Threaded PVC Pressure Pipe — 1/2" to 2"

DN is nominal outside diameter in millimeters; the thread column is the commercial designation you order by. The line does not include a 1 1/4" size.

How is this different from PVC SCH 40?

The joint. SCH 40 is solvent-cemented: the joint is chemically welded, permanent, and needs cure time before you pressurize. This line is threaded — it assembles and breaks down with a wrench, no cement and no waiting. That is why it belongs on service connections and meter sets, where somebody will have to open the line again. If the run is fixed and buried and nobody is taking it apart, SCH 40 is usually the call.

Why does working pressure drop as diameter goes up?

Because wall thickness does not grow in proportion to diameter. At 1/2" the wall is 3.73 mm on a 21.34 mm pipe and it works at 2.90 MPa (420 PSI); at 2" the wall reaches 5.54 mm but on 60.32 mm, and working pressure falls to 1.38 MPa (200 PSI). The diameter-to-wall ratio governs. Put plainly: stepping up in size to get flow costs you pressure, and that call has to be made with the line pressure in front of you.

Can it be used for drainage or sewer?

No. This is pressurized potable water pipe and nothing else. Drain and vent run by gravity and use a different line with a different wall and a spigot-bell joint. It is also not large-diameter buried main pipe — the range stops at 2". Putting a line into the wrong service is not a saving, it is a scheduled failure.

How does the threaded joint go together?

Thread it up with a wrench and whatever thread sealant the installer uses, and it is done — no cement, no cure. Two real cautions: the thread is cut into the pipe wall, so do not over-torque it, and the cut has to be square and deburred so the thread starts straight. Done that way, the joint can be opened and closed again for the life of the installation.

How large does the line go?

Up to 2" (60.32 mm outside diameter). The five sizes are 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1 1/2", and 2" — there is no 1 1/4". For buried mains and service runs above that range the product is HDPE PE 100, which goes to 110 mm and ships in coils, with far fewer joints per installed meter.

What is the minimum order?

Coverage is by the container, not the single length. If the size mix fills a dedicated pressure container, we book it that way; if not, it combines with the rest of the water and drainage line or with the plastics portfolio to reach a clean landed cost.
